'Straw vote' this Saturday may select new Poison Council representative
Tribal members are invited to Poison this Saturday (Sept 7) at noon to hear speeches and cast advisory votes on who should replace Poison Council member Teresa Wall-McDonald, who resigned August 27 to take a job with the BIA.
The Tribal Council agreed August 23 with the wishes of about 60 people who
had attended a district meeting the previous evening that the Poison Council seat should be filled for the four months left of the term, and that the membership would be involved in the selection process.
The advisory vote will take place at the Flathead Lake Senior Citizens Center near the courthouse. The Council will
consider September 10 appointing one of the top two vote-getters as chosen by the membership at large Saturday.
Wall-McDonald explained at the August 22 district meeting that the Tribes had no rules about replacing impeached, resigned or deceased Council members except for what the con-(Concludes on page five)
Council finally decides on $300 per capita payment
All Tribal members caught up on their payments to the Credit office or Tribal Court will be receiving a $300 per capita payment sometime after September 12.
The Tribal Council voted to make the distribution near the end of its August 23
regular business meeting after Executive Treasurer Vern Clairmont asked what should be done with the $4 million or so due from the Montana Power Company early in September.

Council votes to charge members for Char-Koosta
Unless you send in $10 before October 3,1985, this may be your next-to-the-last issue of The Char-Koosta News.
The Tribal Council voted 8-1 August 27 to require each enrolled Tribal member to pay $ 10 towards the $22 cost of a year's subscription to the Tribal newspaper. Non-Indian subscribers will continue to pay $22 a year.
Please fill out the coupon on page three and send it with a check or money
order for $10 payable to "Char-Koosta News" (P.O. Box 278, Pablo, MT 59855).
To repeat Only those enrolled Tribal members who have sent in $10 by October 3, 1985, will receive The Char-Koosta News after October 1, 1985. Those members choosing not to pay the 46% charge by the deadline date will be deleted from the circulation list
