NEWSPAPER OF THE SAUSH, PEND d'OREILLE
AND KOOTENAI TRIBES OF THE FLATHEAD INDIAN RESERVATION, WESTERN MONTANA
VOLUME 12 NUMBER 23
THE BUTTERCUP MONTH
APRIL 15, 1984
Poison's new councilman is Teresa Wall
This isn't news at this late date so much as if s history, double meaning intended
Teresa Marie Wall, 30, was chosen April 2 by a vote of 5 to 2 to finish the 21 months left of E.W. Morigeau's term on the Tribal Council. (Morigeau was removed late in February for alleged
misuse of funds.) The vote confirming her appointment was unanimous.
Wall becomes the third woman to serve on the Council since it was established in its present form under the Indian Reorganization Act in 1935. The first was Lorena Markle Burgess (1944 to 1947), who lives today in Plains; the second was Laura Morigeau Matte (1964 to 1967), who resides now in Polsoa
Wall has worked for the Tribes as director of a seasonal employment program for Indian youths, and as
assistant director for CD Planning. She's served on the Personnel and Apprenticeship boards She's currently employed as the Tribes' utility researcher (story on page 19).
She was born in St Ignatius and reared there and in Poison She has a Bachelor's degree in education from the College of Great Falls,
Wall was selected from a field of 14 that was narrowed to three chosen for interviews. Jack Glover and Bob Clair-mont were the two other finalists.
