Quarterly is next week
The year's first quarterly Council meeting will be next Friday, Jan, 6, in the Council Chambers in Pablo.
Highlight of the meeting will be the selection of a new Council Chairman, made necessary partly by the resignation of Tom Pablo. The new Council will also be sworn in.
This all commences at 9 a.m. Lunch will be served.
Sergeant- at- arms
People interested in being sergeant-at-arms for the Tribal Council should notify Fred Houle, Jr., before the Jan. 6 quarterly.

Three new councilmen to be sworn in
Three of five Council seats up for grabs in December will be filled by new people this month. In St Ignatius, Ron Therriault beat incumbent Noel Pi-chette; in Arlee, Kevin Howlett beat incumbent John McClure; and in Hot Springs, Mickey Pablo will take over from his father, Tom Pablo, who declined to run for re-election, citing ill health.
Pablo's incumbent Vic Stinger won again, as did Dixon's Sonny Morigeau, who received more votes than anyone, something he did back in 1979. Morigeau didn't carry his district, however.
The table below tells the rest of the story. Not quite a thousand Tribal
members voted - about 967, including an unprecedented 144-plus absentee and'questionable' ballots.
As noted in a letter to the editor in this issue, all the winners received more than 50% of the votes cast, thanks, in part, to the institution of primary elections in 1981.
The five winners of the December 17 election, along with the five whose seats will be filled by them for two more years, will be sworn in at the Jan 6 quarterly meeting in Pablo. Highlight of the meeting's informal agenda will no doubt be the selection of a new Tribal Chairman, in the wake of Chairman Pablo's resignation.
