Council and Poison businessmen meet to promote communication
On February 26, the Tribal Council took a two-hour lunch break from their business meeting duties to be guests of the Poison Chamber of Commerce for their second annual get-together.
Poison Mayor, John Dowdall, opened the meeting with a prayer for peace and harmony. Dr. Lee Christianson, Chamber president, related several programs that the city is working on including the proposed convention center. Gem Mercer brought everyone up to date on the Mansfield center. Jim Jubb gave a report on his Spectrum Enterprises and told the Tribal Council that he would be happy to help the Tribes set up an electronic business that would produce electronic parts the same way that Spectrum operates.
Jim Steele, councilman from Arlee, voiced the feeling of his fellow councilmen by saying: "Any development to increase the economic status of all

Tribal members are urged to attend a District meeting scheduled for March 24, 1982, at the Arlee Salish Indian Seniors Center at 7:00 p.m.
We would appreciate the attendance of all interested Tribal members and Councilmen.
This is your opportunity to air your concerns and to become better informed about your Tribal Council's activities.
The invitation comes from Arlee Councilmen Jim Steele and John McClure.
the communities on the Reservation and to do so hand in hand with equal respect and consideration of all parties concerned, is much more critical for the survival of all citizens and communities now than it ever has been in the past. I support any such cooperation because if we are going to battle the recession, we must do so as a united front and ignore any and all past jealousies and animosities that have occurred, so that we can come out of this battle as victors for mutual benefit."
It was agreed among all parties that more meetings would be held, and on a more regular basis, too, to build a firm base for cooperation between the Tribal Council, the City of Poison, and the Chamber of Commerce.
