Dupuis to Guide 'Model Court System'
Don Dupuis, Chief Tribal Judge, has been granted a year's leave of absence by the Tribal Council.
Beginning this week, Dupuis will be Project Director/Manager of the Indian Court Model System under a one-year Law Enforcement Assistance Association grant. Headquartered in Reno, Nevada, Dupuis' duties will include "working with twelve tribal courts in the northwest aiding them to become 'Courts of Record' " and just generally upgrading the tribal justice system.
Explaining the above to the Council in a letter, Dupuis

Camel to Defend Crown
Marvin Camel, sidelined with an eye injury just recently declared "okay" by doctors, will defend his World Boxing Council cruiserweight crown on November 25, according to Elmer Boyce, Camel's manager.
His opponent will be 22-year-old Carlos 'Sugar" DeLeon of Puerto Rico, the WBC's top-ranked contender for the cruiser-weight title. Their match is scheduled to take place just before the Sugar Ray Leonard - Roberto Duran rematch on November 25 in New Orleans' Super Bowl.
DeLeon has a reported record of 20-2-1 (in mostly light heavyweight bouts). Camel, seven years older than his future opponent, has compiled a 35-2-2 record.
Camel's purse for the fight is said to be $90,000, which is a little more than he received for both his bouts with Yugoslavia's Mate Parlov; whom he fought to win the new cruiserweight title. Camel is the first-ever to hold the new division's title. He's also the first Confederated Salish and Kootenai tribal member to become a world class champion.
