Mini-Task Force Is Backed
The date for the next Reservation Mini Task Force has been set for April 9, 1976 at 7:30 p.m. in the St. Ignatius Community Center.
Anyone interested in attending these meetings is urged to do so. .
The'Tribal Council has unanimously agreed to continue the meetings al-
though they have no official capacity now that the main State Jurisdictional Task Force has noted to dissolve itself. The Council feel that the meetings are important to keep the channel of communication open between the Tribe and County Officials.
The Council has urged the mini-task force to invite the members of Missoula, Sanders and Flathead County as well as Lake County, because of topics under discusr sion that effect all the Counties bordering the reservation.
Several weeks ago the task-force committee sent a letter to Governor Judge requesting that the State revive the Main Task Force and include more Reservation and County representatives. As of this date, Governor Judge has made no definite decisions regarding the task force.

POLICE CHIEF OUT
Because of events, which only came to light after his departure, Lloyd Jackson is no longer Chief of Police. Jackson's leave of absence was rescinded by the Tribal Council on Mar. 1 2, after an unfavorable report by the Law & Order Committee. No specific details were mentioned in the report. The Committee also advised the Council to advertise for the position of Police Chief. Jackson recommended Tom Paro as a temporary replacement, however the Committee recommended that Sonny Morigeau serve as the Police Commissioner and as
acting Police Chief. The Council accepted the recommendations. Since that time, Mori -geau has placed emphasis on strict enforcement of rules for Law & order personnel.
Two officers have resigned, and reports of at least one other individual who is considering resigning.
Police CommissionerSonny Morigeau declined to comment on the situation at this time, but told the Char-Koosta that there are personnel questions that remain unresolved, and he would release a story at a later date.
WHITWORTH RESIGNS
Arlee Councilman Fred Whitworth handed inhis resignation to the Tribal Council March 12. His resignation will be effective as of April 2.
Whitworth has been on the Council representing the Arlee district for 15 years. He was chairman of the Council from 1968 until 1972.
He has been an extreme advocate of less spending
by the Tribal Council and has been known to vote no to every motion made before the Council if it meant spending more of the Tribal member's money.
A reservation wide election will be held May 1 to elect a Councilman to serve out the remainder of Whit-worths term. The deadline for filing candidacy is set for April 1 5.
