COMMITTEE ANNOUNCES POW—WOW SCHEDULE
The 82nd Annual Flathead Reservation Pow-wow begins this week in Arlee. According to the pow-wow committee's 1980 program (hot off the press and selling for $2.00), here's what's shaking for the next several days:
TUESDAY, JULY 1
Camper's Day
Laws To Be "Strictly Enforced"
Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribal lawmen would like to remind all pow-wow goers that no liquor or dangerous drugs will be allowed on the Arlee grounds this year, as always. Everyone is subject to a search of his or her person or vehicle at the entry gate (members and non-members alike) and if someone exhibits inebriated behavior, he or she could be refused entry to the celebration.
Penalties for convicted violators of the regulations can go as high as: possession of dangerous drugs • $500 fine and/or 6 months in jail; possession of alcohol - $180 fine and/or 3 months in jail. THIS WILL BE STRICTLY ENFORCED THIS SUMMER and all cited violators WILL be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
Also, non-members of the CSK Tribes should be aware of Ordinance 43b, paragraph 8, which says they can't operate any kind of games of chance (card or stickgames, for example) at the pow-wow. This rule, too, will be enforced.

WEDNESDAY, JULY 2
Tom Brown Memorial all afternoon. Opening ceremonies begin at 7:30 p.m., followed by warm-up intertribal war dancing and canvas dances afterwards.
THURSDAY, JULY 3
Preliminary contests for Miss Flathead and Junior Miss begin at 2 p.m. Grand Entry is scheduled for 7 p.m. followed by more inter-tribal war dancing, Miss Flathead and Junior Miss finals and announcement of the winners and more canvas dancing. Dance contest registration ends at midnight.
FRIDAY, JULY 4
Now it gets busy: The 10,000 meter Friendship Foot Race starts at 10 in the morning. The barbeque feast begins to be dished up at 11 a.m., then the runners and feasters get a rest until 2 p.m. when the traditional Snake Dance takes place, followed by a Scalp Dance exhibition, a Veterans Honor Dance and some inter-tribals.
