NOTICE
FOREST USE RESTRICTIONS SET
Glenn Anderson, BIA fire control supervisor, reports that the fire danger on the reservation is very high and may remain so until it rains. As a result, the following restrictions have been outlined:
* All logging and post and pole operations are restricted to morning shifts. No skidding or chain saw use is allowed after 2 p.m. Loggers are forbidden to blast or use earth-moving equipment to build new roads, but they are allowed to haul and load logs using already-existing logdecks.
* Campers are forbidden to smoke in the woods. Campfires are forbidden except in improved campfire sites and fuel stoves may be used, as well.
* Chain saws are not permitted for wood-gathering.
* All vehicles using reservation logging roads must carry an axe, shovel and bucket.
These restrictions will remain in effect until further notice.
NOTICE TO PEOPLE OF HOT SPRINGS AREA
The Flathead Service Unit Dental Program is low making an extra effort to reach you people living in the western corner of the reservation. We recognize that because of the distance from the Poison and St. Ignatius Dental Clinics, many of you have not been receiving den-
tal services on par with the rest of the reservation.
Under the recent change in policy to family dental care, family groups have been, and will continue to be, encouraged to make appointments for dental services at both the Poison and St. Ignatius Clinics. For the remainder of the summer, we will also be authorizing routine services by Dr. Cook in Plains for those of you who can't travel to the IHS Clinics. This will only be available until September.
These services are not limited to children; all ages are encouraged to achieve, and maintain, healthy mouths. Fillings, cleaning, extractions, denture repairs, etc., are available for all; however, IHS resources are still too limited to provide full service in crowns, bridges, new dentures, and orthodontics. As always, you should also take advantage of any other resources such as Medicaid and dental insurance that you may have.
Call now for appointments: Poison IHS Dental Clinic 883-5541, St. Ignatius IHS Dental Clinic 745-2422, and Dr. Richard Cook, Plains 826-3611.
Roger J. Smith, D.M.D. Chief, Dental Program St. Ignatius Service Unit
