THE SECOND QUARTERLY MEETING WILL BE HELD ON APRIL 6th, 1979, AT THE TURTLE LAKE COMMUNITY CENTER. IT WILL START AT 9 A.M.
BAKER APPOINTED AREA DIRECTOR
BIA Superintendent of the Black-feet Reservation, Anson A. Baker, has been appointed Area Director for the Bureau of Indian Affairs' headquarters in Billings.
One of six candidates considered for the post, Baker, 57, will replace former Area Director, James F. Canan, who occupied the post for 17 years.
Canan was reassigned to a special BIA task force, which will undertake the unique mission and monumental chore of researching ways and means for streamlining services to Indian reservations.
Following Canan's transfer, Richard C. Whitesell, Superintendent for the Flathead Reservation, was appointed Acting Area Director for a period of (Continued on page 2)
