BULK RATE U.S. POSTAGE PAID ST. IGNATIUS, MONTANA PERMIT NO. 1
VOLUME 8 NUMBER 22 FULL MOON OF THE GOOSE FLIGHT MARCH 15,1979
WELCOME HOME FRED !!
Following the Administration Committee Meeting of March 8, it was announced that Fred Houle Jr. has taken a year's leave of absence as Director of the YACC Program in Dixon, to complete the remaining ten months left of the Tribal Secretary term.
Former Secretary, Doug Allard, resigned the position on Feb. 14, on the advice of his physician. Allard was selected Tribal Secretary in early January of 1978, out of 13 applicants seeking the two-year term.
Since Houle was Tribal Secretary from 1968 through most of 1977, he is certainly no newcomer or stranger to the obviously difficult position.
Approximately three months prior to the end of his term in 1977, he had resigned under stress, stating that he "was tired and needed a rest."However, it was later brought out that internal problems and locking horns with former Tribal Council Chairman, Harold Mitchell Jr., created an intol-
erable situation which led to his resignation.
Karen Hale has been appointed Director for YAAC during Secretary Houle's leave. She had been Administrative Officer prior to the promotion.
(We might add that another change is under way at the Tribal Complex. YAAC employees have been busily giving the offices a brand new coat of paint-from a drab mustard yellow to lily white).
Looking good ? You betcha'.
NOTICE
THE NEXT TWO REGULAR COUNCIL MEETINGS ARE SCHEDULED FOR MARCH 16 AND MARCH 30, 1979.
MEETINGS WILL START AT 9 A.M. IN THE TRIBAL COUNCIL CHAMBERS AT PABLO.
REMINDER
The Char-Koosta staff is now in the process of pulling address cards and plates from our circulation files, of tribal members who have not sent in the coupons that have been
running continuously in the tribal newsletter since January
1 1979.
It would be helpful if our members would send their old address along with any new address submitted.
Every coupon is being checked with the tribal enrollment book for verification.
We are running into some problems with some members filling out coupons for children as young as 18 months of age. The Tribal Council would like to provide the tribal newsletter to as many members requesting it, but one cannot help but raise an eye-brow over our 'younguns' reading at such a tender age?!
