-Deadline For Applications -(December 15th)
HUD Director for the Confederated Tribes Housing Program, Rick Farrell, reports that the ten units ( five duplexes) and a Senior Citizens Center located at St. Ignatius, will be completed approximately the end of December.
Handicapped and elderly Tribal members are requested to have their applications in by the 15th of December. Many of our elderly are in need of adequate housing, but have not made application with HUD.
Selections will be designated by the Housing Authority Board, after the Dec. 15th deadline.
The two-bedroom units are constructed for both single and family occupancy.
How well the ten units are accepted ( "or go" ), may depend on future additional units being constructed in the St. Ignatius area. Rick said.
The Senior Citizens Center located at the same site, will be rented through the ANA Program, although definite arrangements have not been announced at this time.
An "open - house" is scheduled for December 15th - by invitation only.
Council Authorizes $800. Dividend Payment
On Nov. 17th the Tribal Council authorized an $800. dividend payment for 5,978 enrolled and eligible Tribal members.
The Council also designated that Nov. 17th was the cut-off date for enrollment-eligibility, prior to the distribution of payments.
No exact date was established as to when the dividend would be made, but will probably be around the 20th of Dec. or sooner.
The Tribal Council stipulated that all legal claims against the dividend checks shall not exceed $400. However, Ken Dupuis, Director for Tribal Credit, said that judgements will be filed against the full payment towards delinquent accounts (if necessary). Both Tribal Credit and Tribal Court can file a hold on dividend checks. Non-Tribal debts processed through Tribal Court would have to abide by the $400. hold limit also.
The total $4,650,000 Kerr Dam lease settlement for the years 1975-1977 combined with additional Tribal revenue funds make up the dividend payments.
