80th Annual Pow Wow (Whoopie!)
Once again many residents and out of state visitors will be looking forward to and attending the 80th Annual Pow Wow Celebration, which will be held at Arlee from June 30th through July 5th.
Booster buttons and raffle tickets may be purchased from Pow Wow Committee members. Tickets will also be sold at
Campers Day is June 29th and camping sites will be on a first come, first served basis. Reservations are not available for the sites.
Registration and preliminary judging for the Junior Miss and Miss Flathead contest starts at 2: p.m. on June 30th followed by opening ceremonies and a special memorial ceremony for Anne Mary and Basil Lefthand.
Many events are scheduled for the five-day celebration, which include exhibition dances, Junior Miss and Miss Flathead introductions along with the announcement of 1978 winners, war dancing, Scalp Dance, Canvas Dance and inter - tribal dancing.
Mass will be offered 11: a.m. Sunday, July 2nd and an inter - tribal feast with all vistors welcomed. Contests for both girls and boys in pre - arranged age groups will be on Monday, July 3rd.
Activities for July 4th include the Arlee parade. Participants must be registered ( no registration fee) by 10: a.m. to be eligible for prizes. The parade will start at noon from the Arlee High School. Categories will include best mounted, according to age groups, authentic Indian costumes, novelty and humorous. Winners may pick up their prizes at the high school until 2:30 that afternoon.
Another highlight for everyone is the rodeo on Saturday the 1st of July and Sunday. Rodeo events include a $750.00 purse for a total of seven different and scheduled events. Entry fee is $25.00 for each event. Additional information was not available at this writing, but buckaroos and buckarees (?) may contact Pat Esponoza in Arlee by calling 726-3589.
Other activities for July 3rd and July 4th are contests by age groups, Snake Dance, a Golden Age Honor Dance,

Attention Tribal Members
The deadline for enrollment is July 1, 1978, in order to be entitled for the August 1978 Dividend Payment.
This means that the complete application (all information required for enrollment)must be in this Office by the July 1 date. NO EXCEPTIONS. Those persons applying after that date must wait until after the Dividend Distribution is made before the request for enrollment is processed.
