VOLUME 7 NUMBER 18 FULL MOON OF THE WANDERING JANUARY 15, 1978
Quarterly Meeting - Jan. 6, 1978
There were approximately 110 people that attended the quarterly meeting January 6, 1978, for the swearing in ceremony of the new Council-men and the elections for Chairman, Vice Chairman, Secretary, Treasurer and Sergeant At Arms.
To start things off Johnny Arlee said a prayer in Salish language.
In an election conducted by B. I. A. Superintendent, Richard Whitesell, the Council selected Thomas (Bearhead) Swaney of St. Ignatius as Tribal Chairman over Pablo Councilman Vic Stinger with a vote of 6 to2. Chairman
Swaney then conducted the election of Vice Chairman. Hot Springs Councilman Thomas Pablo was selected by acclamation of the Council for Vice Chairman.
Selections were made for the Tribal Secretary - St. Ignatius businessman Doug Allard was selected for this position; Tribal Treasurer - Linda Couture won with a vote of 5 to 3 after quite a few tie votes with Eva Sorrell Anderson; Sergeant At Arms was another tie breaker with Al Hewankorn and Ralph (Dib) Espinoza, AI took the vote with a 5 to 3 turnout.

After all selections were made, the Council adjourned for lunch hour which was held at the Agency Gym for everyone who attended the meeting.
The meeting was called back to order to hold public discussion. Some topics discussed were: MOD; Arlee Day Care Center; the Council minutes; and the Chairman's selection of new committee people. It was suggested that not only Councilmen but also other Tribal Members interested, be appointed to these different committees. The committees will be selected at the next Council meeting held January 20th. Meeting adjourned at 3:30 p.m.
Move To Complex Underway
The New Year brought several changes in our Tribal Council and Administration. Somehow, it seems appropriate for the move to the New Complex near Pablo at this time.
Observing the well organized move from Dixon Headquarters to the Complex; and realizing it is part of our tribal history, it deserved more than a short article.
Limited space in this issue of the Char-Koosta, prevents a feature story at this time. However, every effort will be made to have it ready for the Feb. 1st issue.
Tribal Secretary, Doug Allard told the Char-Koosta that an open-house, dedication and pow-wow is planned this coming summer.
