Tribal Election
Voters for this year's Tribal Council elections are going to have a wide variety of candidates to choose from. As of 12:00 noon, November 30, there were 25 candidates signed up. They are as follows: ELMO: Patrick H. Lefthand, and Lawrence Kenmille. POLSON: Roger McClure, Rosemary Fiorentino, Frank Lefthand, E. W. 'Bill' Morigeau, Ralph C. Du-charme.
RONAN: Lytle Gillin, Lester Paro, Joe McDonald, Phillip Paul, Fred R. Cordier, Joseph Santos, Sr. ARLEE: 2 year vacancy term -Charles Morigeau, Ida Sorrell Curley, Fred Whitworth, David L. Gardipe, Louis Buchard.

St. IGNATIUS: Thomas 'Bearhead' Swaney, Baptist 'Bap' Pichette, George E. Mitchell, James Morigeau, Harold Mitchell, Jr., James H. McLeod.
Filing date is December 2, 1977. Elections will be held on Saturday, December 17, 1977. Polling places will be posted in the December 15 issue of the Char-Koosta.
In addition to the candidates for Council, the following people have applied for the positions of Tribal Secretary, Treasurer and Sargent of Arms. These are appointed positions by the Tribal Council on January 6, 1978. Cut off date for filing an application is December 16, 1977. Tribal Secretary: Rhonda Camel, Bud Moran, and Art Barber. Tribal Treasurer: Rhonda Camel. Sgt. at Arms: Ralph 'Dib' Espinoza.
X - Mas Per Capita
The Tribal Council has voted for a dividend per-capita payment of $200 for each tribal member. The payment is to be mailed on December 16, and should reach the members before the Christmas holiday.
All members who were enrolled by November 18, 1977, will receive a check in the mail. The total amount of the December payment comes to $1,187,200 divided among 5,936,
and is derived from tribal resource income,( Kerr Dam, Timber sales, etc.)
Payments will be withheld from those members who have pledged and forfeited their per-capita, or who have tribal court judgements against them, or who have delinquent payments owed to the tribal credit office, etc.
Hiway Project Meeting
Reconstruction of seven miles of Montana Highway 200 between Dixon and Ravalli will be discussed at a public hearing Wednesday, December 7 at 7:30 p.m. in the Dixon High School.
The project begins at the west edge of Dixon and extends east through the Flathead Indian Reservation for about 7.3 miles, ending at Ravalli. It will consist of a new two-lane roadway following the existing alignment, with improvement of curves and grades.
The public hearing will give engineers the opportunity to explain the proposed location and major design features of the project. The tentative schedule for right-of-way acquisition and construction, and relocation assistance programs will be discussed.
The public is invited to present written or verbal arguments for or against the proposed project. Written statements also will be accepted for ten days following the hearing by the Department of Highways in Helena.
