INDIAN PRIDE ON THE MOVE
"Indian Pride on the Move", a traveling exhibition of native American art, will be held at the St. Ignatius City Park, Aug. 14 through 17. The exhibition will be shown each day and evening along with special slide and film presentations. Local area members, Germaine & Betty White, are also involved with the project and will be available at the exhibition to assit people who may have questions concerning the Native Arts on display.
"Indian Pride on the Move" will be an entertaining and educational exhibit designed around a selection of American Indian art from the David T. Vernon Collection with additional pieces from other National Park Service collections. As an
extension of the National Park Service in cooperation with the University of Montana, one of the major goals in planning this exhibition will be to bring the National Parks to the people. The exhibition will go primarily to small rural communities and Indian reservations in the Rockies and Midwest and will bring a major cultural event to people who would otherwise be unable or unlikely to visit the Parks.
The exhibition will remain in each community for approximately three days and will include a variety of out-reach programs directed to the schools and local organizations. These programs will serve to stimulate interest in the focal point
of the exhibition, which will be the actual art of the North American Indians, and will present a preview of the exciting and informative multi-media presentation to be viewed at the main vehicles.
At the main vehicles, through presentations of films, slides and live craft demonstrations, the viewer will perceive the qualities of Native American Art and will learn something of the various cultures which produced it.

Hospital Committee Asks Tribe's Help
District Meetings Scheduled
Dixon: The Tribal Council has held two special Council meetings in the past several weeks to discuss the future of the Holy Family Hospital with the ' Save the Hospital Committee'.
Those present at the last meeting included 'Committee' chairman, Wes Leish-man, Hospital Administrator, Sister Si-mone Bepeign; I.H.S. Director, Rose Cline; and I.H.S. contracting specialist, Jerry Zitur.
The Hospital committee is attempting to raise $300,000 to pay back the Sisters of Charity, and have some capital for the administration of the Hospital, guarantee for doctor's salary, and remodeling of one wing of the Hospital for use as a doctor's out-patient clinic.
The Council had previously arranged to lease the hospital and grounds to the Community of St. Ignatius for one dollar per year. The Committee is now having problems meeting their deadlines. They had hoped to raise enough to pay the debt to the Sisters by September 1, however, they explained at their Aug. 2 meeting that it will take more time to get a fund raising
campaign off the ground. They requested that the Council contribute something to the campaign to start it off. A loan of $125,000 was one suggestion, but the committee stated they would take whatever the Council could offer.
What they got at the Aug. 10 meeting was a concensus of the Council to give them 60 days to show what they could raise on their own, then to come back to the Council and talk contribution, loan, or even the Tribe contracting the Hospital with Indian Health Service.
Tribal Council Vice-Chairman, Vic Stinger, explained to Leishman and the others that the Tribe does not have the funds readily a-vailable to contribute at this time.
In the mean time, the Sisters have agreed to keep the Hospital open. A solution will be forthcoming in 60 days when the Council will meet with the Hospital Committee.
One thing that was agreed upon by all of those concerned is the fact that the Hospital should remain open, and remain a community Hospital open to serve all the people of the Valley.
Dixon: Reservation wide district meetings will be held by the entire Tribal Council at four locations next month. Topics for discussion will include what should be done with the EDA money left after the Tribal Complex was voted down. The Tribes may be able to retain the $555,0Q0 grant for other projects on the Reservation. Meetings will be scheduled as follows: Sept. 7-7:00 p.m. Ronan community center. Sept. 8-6:00 p.m. Elmo Koostatah Hall Sept. 14-7 :00 p.m. -Mission Comm. Center Sept. 16-7:00 p.m. - HotSprings High Sch.
ACCIDENT REPORT
Dixon: Tribal Law & Order reports that 62% of the automobile accidents were found to be alcohol related in the month of July. 12 of the 32 investigated colli -sions had drinking involved.
There were no deaths on the reservation highways, however, 20 people were injured.
Of the 48 people involved, 9 were listed as Indian.
