ELECTION RETURNS ARE IN - -
Dixon:  After wading hip deep in candidates. Tribal members have managed to elect five Co unci I men in several districts,    by not too much of a margin.
Although the political contest was close matched in four of the five districts, results of the St. Ignatius race was considered a real cliff-hanger.  The election committee, after three talleys,    certified Noel Pichette as the Mission district Councilman.  Noel received 205 votes, narrowly upset ing Al Sloan, Manpower Director,   who held 203.   Flathead Museum owner Doug Allard was close behind with 198.   Larry Schliep had 84; Ken Hunter 58; JoAnn Kuntz 55; Richard McElderry 24, and write in votes for former Councilman Tom 'Bearhead' Swaney brought 18 votes.
Incumbant John Malatare was reelected Arlee District's Council representative, receiving 301 votes followed by a close race for 2nd place between Tom 'Satch' Mc -Donald 182 and Virginia Brazil! with 181.   Con Con committee member Josephine Morigeau Steele 74 votes, Vic Matt, Arlee's

Pow wow chairman 68; Ted Pel-lew 32; Clifford Miller 11, and a write in vote for Evelyn Granier of 1.
Dixon District incumbant Bob McCrea with 157 votes, was defeated by Elmer 'Sonny' Mori -geau, former Tribal Law and Order Chief. He received 309 votes. John 'Bud' Barnaby 100; RosePa-lin Bailey 94; Joseph 'Bud' Dumontier 72; Sybil Butler 47; Ed^ na Howard 13; two write in candidates each received one vote— Baptiste Hewankorn and Francis Big Crane.
Hot Springs incumbant Thomas Pablo was elected to another session of office with a majority of the votes 416, over LeRoy O'Ben-nick with a good showing of 216. Ron Matt polled 113; Nick Las -saw 92; write in votes for John, Camas Prairie Kid, Stanislaw 10 and one vote for Gene Howlett.
Pablo Council position was not a close race, incumbant Vic Stinger overwhelmed his opponents by receiving 490 votes.  George Garcia had 143; Burton Irvine 135; Jackie Drowatzky 62; write in's were Chris McDonald 3 and Clor-is Brothers 1 vote.
