Alcohol Program to sponsor nature awareness summer program
A summer's worth of outdoor recreation and nature awareness activities for youngsters has been charted by the Tribal Health Department's Alcohol Program.

ing, and daytime hikes and activities during the Arlee pow wow. An experienced wildlife biologist will be in charge of all of the trips, aided by at least one other adult.
"We hope to bring an awareness and appreciation of the natural beauty and the outdoor opportunities available in the Reservation area," said Anna Whit-ing-Sorrell, administrator of the Alcohol Program. "Using the experience of this summer, we hope that our young people will use their new outdoor skills as an alternative to using drugs and alcohol."
Each outing is limited to ten youngsters of a certain age (see the schedule at the right) with Tribal-member kids getting first preference. All equipment will be provided by the program except for personal gear, which will be explained in letters to be sent to selected participants.
Applications are available from
Tribal Health in Ronan (we have a few here at the newsletter offices, as well; you might call—676-2770—and see if they'll mail a form to you, but hurry because the fun starts next week).
