Three of five incumbents apparently lose re-election bids
Ten of 12 general election candidates are resting easy now, more or less, because they know for sure whether or not they won in the Dec. 12 Tribal Council election.
The other two, though — Louie Adams and Hank Baylor — get a few extra days of wondering because their final vote totals are so close that it's too soon to tell who really won that race until the contested and absentee ballots
are counted Dec. 16.
A little over 900 Tribal members showed up at the polls last Saturday to vote for who they thought should lead the Tribes over the next two years. They apparently chose not to return to office three of five incumbents, according to the still-to-be canvassed results released Dec. 13.
With around 125 ballots to be counted yet, vice-chairman Ron Therriault finished 59 votes behind former Council member Joe "Dog" Felsman in the St. Ignatius contest. Four-termer Vic Stinger of Pablo finished behind challenger Lloyd Irvine. And Louie Adams' total is just 16 votes behind newcomer (Concludes on page four)

News from the enforcement branches
The Tribes' Law and Order Dept. has installed a toll-free number to allow easy access to those wishing to report emergencies.
The number, 1-800-634-0690, can be used by any member of the general public to
report any emergency situation, or any crime, or fish and game violation that has been
committed or is in the process of being committed.

The Tribes' Fish and Game Conservation Dept. has relocated (late this summer, actually) from the Burland Building to the former PATCoR offices immediately east of Char-Koosta News and Printing (see map below).
