Transportation to Dec. 18 hearing in Helena to be provided
If you're interested in observing the justice system as it deals with a lawsuit that's been called an "attack on Indian self-government", you should go to Helena this Thursday.
Because driving to the hearing site at the state capitol is a several-hour endeavor, made tougher by winter road conditions, a 54-passenger bus has been chartered so interested Tribal members can attend the important event.
In order to arrive by the proceeding's 9:30 am. start, the bus will be leaving the cultural center in Elmo at 5 am It will pick up passengers at the Pablo Complex around 530 am.; at the Longhouse in St Ignatius at 6 am.; and at the Salish Indian senior citizens' center in Arlee at 630 am.
Seating will be available on a first-
come, first-served basis. Lunch will be provided, and possibly dinner as well, depending on how long the hearing lasts.
People are asked to call Greg DuMontier at 675-2700 (ext. 420) so he can get an idea of how many will be taking the bus.
