roposed $5.5 million convention center makes progress
Koss Landing public meeting
The proposed development of Koss Landing in Poison will be the topic of discussion at a public meeting on Tuesday, June 17, at the community center in St. Ignatius, beginning at 7 p.m.
Newsstand price: $1 no
The public got its first look late last month at what the proposed Koss Landing hotel-convention center might look like.
What they saw were blueprints for a three-story, mostly rectangular-shaped building with 110 rooms, including 10 luxury suites, a lot of meeting-room space, a lounge and dining room, a ballroom, and two swimming pools.

A "Celebration of Sobriety" is on the way, June 26-29, at the Arlee pow wow grounds, hosted by the Tribal Health's Alcohol Component.
According to Alcohol Component director Anna Whiting, the fourth annual campout is designed to gather "people to recognize the affects of alcohol and chemical abuse on Indian people." She said they've planned the campout to coincide with the start of the pow wow season, focusing on the concept of celebrating sobriety. There were 1,500 participants at last year's Fort Peck
encampment.
The celebration will feature sessions catering to specific age groups, panels, A A and ALANON meetings, and entertainment.
John Eagle Day of the Four Worlds Development will lead the Native Games; Indian film-maker Phil Lucas will talk on "Issues related to Alcoholism"; and Andy Chelsea, the subject of the movie "The Honor of All" ~ a story of how the Alkalia Lake people overcame a 100% alcoholism rate and changed that (Concludes on page two)
