This year will no doubt go down in the record books as the "year of big doings" on the Flathead Reservation, with more than half-a-dozen conferences and gatherings planned for spring and early summer

with presentations by Tribal Health's Alcohol Component, beginning at 9 am A community dinner and wardance will follow in the evening at the St Ignatius community center. Native American Fish and Wildlife Society's 4th annual conference, April 8 through 11. Although the conference itself will be held in Missoula (there weren't enough accomodations on the Rez for the number of expected participants, organizer Herschel Mays said), its being sponsored by the Tribes and its Wildlife Recreation Department In addition to a (tentatively planned) feast and tour of the Reservation, the four-day event will
feature speakers from across the country who will discuss fish and wildlife management as it relates to budget crunches, research, and jurisdiction and enforcement issues. (We hope to have a firm agenda in the April 3 Char-Koosta News.) For more details, call Mays at 406/675-2700, ext 357).

Arlee Songfest, May 23-25, at the Arlee Celebration (powwow) Grounds, "All types of music welcomed", says a publicity poster for the second annual event In addition to 2Vz days of music, the songfest has a special prayer service planned for Vietnam veterans on May (Concludes on page two)
Job Training folks move to Ronan
The Tribes' Job Training (Manpower) Program has moved from Pablo to Ronan. The program is now housed with Family Assistance in the building across from Tribal Health which was once, known as the Camel Recreation Center. The new phone number is 676-3500.
