Description	Forest fire retardants can corrode aircraft and mixing, storing, and handling facilities. Extent and severity of corrosion depend on the metals involved, specific exposure, and other factors. This report provides a nontechnical description of the mechanics of such corrosion and how it can be prevented or minimized. Preventives include proper selection of materials, corrosion-inhibiting additives, protective coatings, ventilation of tanks, and proper maintenance.
