Waters
Canoe
Area

MN

Shining
Rock

NC
, and
Desolation
,
CA
.
Only
five
of the
83
variables
assessed
changed
consistently
in
all
wildernesses
.
Visitor
age
and
educational
attainment
increased
, as
did
the
proportion
of
visitors
who
were
female
and
who
had been to
other
wildernesses
.
Visitor
evaluations
of
litter
in the
wilderness
also
improved
.
Typical
wilderness
visits
were
relatively
unchanged
, as were
visitor
preferences
for
wilderness
conditions
and
management
.
