STATEMENT OF SENATOR MIKE MANSFIELD
FEBRUARY 5, 1965
- -.- a ....J..
In general I think the President's Farm message is a good one,
but, I want to see the specifics in the legislation before I make a firmer
It is necessary that the wheat farmers be given full parity, and
most certainly the interests of the sugar beet farmers should be taken
into consideration and given every possible support along the lines recom ..
mended by the Rocky Mountain producers.
I intend to do everything I can in behalf of these and other segments
of Montana's agricultural economy, as well as other related aspects as
they affect cattle and sheep.
I also want to see the small family farmer given every possible
consideration because certainly he is the backbone of our agricultural
economy, and deserves the support of our Government.
I will be happy to answer more specifically when the details are
spelled out in legislation.
