Find Free Sheet Music On the Web
31 July 2009 by Tammy RavasThere are several web sites you can visit to find free sheet music on the internet. Many of these sites are able to provide free downloads of these items because they are in the public domain or the composer agreed to have her or his music posted by using a Creative Commons License. Try the following sites:
- Choral Public Domain Library
Provides links to public domain sheet music for chorus.
- International Music Score Library/ Petrucci Music Library
Contains nearly 15,000 works in the public domain available for free download. You can browse scores by composer, time period or genre/instrument.
- Johann Sebastian Bach’s complete works (Bach Gesellschaft)
Site provides access to JS Bach’s complete works. You will need to download special free software to access this material.
- Neue Mozart-Ausgabe Online
Contains scores from the new version of Mozart’s complete works (Neue Mozart-Ausgabe in German).
- Robert Schumann’s complete works
Digitized by the Munich Digitization Center, this site provides access to the complete scores of Robert Schumann.
I have this same list of resources in my Music subject guide. Please feel free to share any similar sites you may have discovered!

check google Google
As the previous commenter states– yes indeed, you can search Google to locate free sheet music on the web; and, here are some tips to help you find the best results.
1. Use an advanced search in Google:
2. Next, use the term “free” in the box entitled, _All of these words_. Then, you’ll see another set of boxes labeled, _One or more of these words_. Here, type in the phrases, “sheet music” in one of the boxes and “music scores” in the other one.
3. You’ll see a box towards the bottom of the screen labeled, _Search within a site or a domain_. Type in either “.org” or “.edu” here. Hint, you’ll need to do one search with “.org” and another search with “.edu”.
Taking these steps should help to eliminate results that may not come from trusted or legitimate sources.
Happy hunting!
