From March 18th through April 24th, the Montana Museum of Art and Culture is hosting the exhibit, Jam Session: America’s Jazz Ambassadors Embrace the World. The exhibit features photographs of jazz greats such as Dizzy Gillespie, Dave Brubeck, Louis Armstrong, and others as they toured and performed around the world for the State Department. Additionally, there are a few other collections of photographs and artwork on the subject of jazz on display.
Along with the Meloy and Paxson Galleries in the PARTV Center and First Interstate Bank’s Downtown location, the Mansfield Library will also be displaying seven oil paintings of jazz musicians by local artist James Todd in this exhibition. The paintings will be located on the main floor (3rd floor) of the library. In addition to the oil paintings, we also have a physical display of library materials related to the exhibit.
Please visit our library guide on the exhibit to find jazz recordings and more at the Mansfield Library.
