Archives & Special Collections Puts Glacier National Park History Online

29 March 2010 by Donna McCrea

Life Zones of Glacier National Park, a 1918 map created by the National Park Service, is one of 100 regional and historic maps from Archives & Special Collections that were recently digitized and placed online. Other maps in the online collection include the original town site of Missoula and Fort Missoula in 1883. More maps will be added soon.

We’ve also uploaded over 300 images of Glacier National Park to our online Archives Photo Collection in recognition of the Park’s 100th anniversary this year. A copy of Jerry DeSanto’s beautiful book, Alpine Wildflowers of Glacier National Park, Montana, and Waterton Lakes National Park, Alberta, was digitized and placed online last year courtesy the Clark Fork Chapter and Flathead Chapter of the Montana Native Plant Society.
