Shelf Holds

29 October 2010 by Barry Brown

You now can place a HOLD on a book in the Library catalog regardless of whether it is checked out, sitting on the shelf in the Mansfield Library, or at one of our partner libraries.  Simply search the library catalog, choose an item from the result list, and on the next screen you will see an option on the right side to click HOLD.  Follow the instructions and you will be notified via e-mail when it is available for pick up at the Mansfield Library Information Center counter.

The Mansfield Library will be making items available for pick up by 11:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. each day.  You will be notified by e-mail when your item is ready for pick up. If the material is on the shelf and coming from one of our partner libraries, it will typically take between 1 and 3 days before an item is available since it has to come through the U.S. Postal Service or Campus mail.

How has this changed from previous HOLDS?  In the past only items that were currently checked out from the Mansfield Library could have a hold placed on them.  Now most circulating items in the catalog can have holds placed and be picked up at the library. If you have questions please drop by the Mansfield Library Information Center or call 243-4071.
