IM Service

3 July 2007 by

The Mansfield Library is beta testing an instant messaging service this summer. You can ask us a question using your favorite IM client. The library’s username is “umtlib” on AOL Instant Messenger, Google Talk, Yahoo! Messenger, and MSN Messenger. Or, you can use the “Ask a librarian” box on the library’s homepage.

The IM service is available 8 am – 9 pm, Monday – Thursday; 8 am – 5:00 pm, Friday; and 10:30 am – 6:30 pm, Saturday – Sunday. If we are not online, please feel free to send questions to the email reference service.

Let us know what you think of the IM service. We’re open to suggestions.

Could anyone please tell me if the library is available for exchange students from abroad like me?

  2. Jennie Burroughs Says:

Thanks for the question. The library is open to the public, so everyone is free to come to the library, browse the collection, and use the databases in-house. For checking out materials and remote access, exchange students need to be registered students and have paid their university fees. The easiest way to determine what access you have is to ask at the check-out desk in the library. I hope this helps.
